My favourite locations for family photoshoots in the Shire
The Sutherland Shire truly spoils us with beautiful locations for maternity, newborn and family photos. They all have their own unique characteristics —from ocean pools and rocks to sand dunes and secluded spots with no one around.

Gunnamatta Beach
Easy to access and so safe for the little ones, Gunnamatta is a beautiful location for family photos in the Sutherland Shire. We can start at the Pavillion with its iconic structure and colour, before moving closer to the jetty and the beach. The boats and Burraneer on opposite side provide a beautiful backdrop.

Oak Park
Facing East, Oak Park is one of the beaches that is perfect for a sunrise session. It provides a great variety of backdrops for a family photoshoot: we can climb on the rocks, play in the waves, collect shells and even jump into the ocean pool. It’s usually not too busy here in the mornings, with easy parking nearby.

Darook Beach
This secluded spot in Cronulla is a little harder to access, but provides such an idyllic location! The ocean is very shallow so we can easily play and even sit in the water. Bushes, trees and rocks on either side of the beach offer additional backdrops to allow for a variety of photos.

Kurnell
A little drive away, the beach on the far west end of Kurnell is well worth the trip. The water is shallow, the sand is white and soft, there are sea shells everywhere, and the dunes provide a beautiful backdrop. Most days, there is hardly anyone around.

Wanda & Greenhills
Let’s play in the dunes, among the beautiful wild grass and on the sand. Wanda & Greenhills beach provide so much space to move and capture the early morning light. This location also allows for your furry friends to join.

Blackwoods Beach
A little harder to access due to only a few entry points and a steep descent, the trip down to Blackwoods beach is rewarded with a serene atmosphere and often with no one else around. A soft sand beach and loads of space to let the little ones run around, it’s a wonderful option to photograph in the morning.
